Lena Sugralinova paints in oil, slowly and in layers, the way the discipline has been taught for centuries — and uses that patience for distinctly contemporary subjects. She builds figures that hold a psychological state rather than a pose: exhaustion, resistance, tenderness, refusal. Recurring eyes and invented creatures move through the work, appearing where likeness alone cannot carry the meaning.
“I Am Done” is the painting that carries the clearest professional record in Lena’s body of work. Built through layered colour and controlled transitions of light, it holds a moment of emotional exhaustion without resolving it into a single narrative. The work received a finalist place in the Portraiture category of the 18th International ARC Salon, took tied 5th place in Realism—Figure at the 2024 World Art Awards, and was featured among the 2025 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize Emerging Artist Award entries.
